What is my hobby?
That’s easy ... cooking and writing. Both give me creative freedom and a way to escape reality.
With cooking, ingredients become a song. Each one is a word that must harmonize with the others. I love experimenting, discovering what blends beautifully and what simply doesn’t belong.
Writing feels much the same. I lose myself in the rhythm of words, shaping them into sentences, paragraphs, and eventually chapters. There’s a deep satisfaction in watching a story unfold. When the “flow” arrives, when words rush in faster than I can catch them ... I’m swept into creativity. The world quiets, and I wander through imagination, even revisiting real events, as I write nonfiction.
Reading has always been my first love. Since childhood, I’ve devoured books, sometimes three at once, each story pulling me into its own world. That passion naturally led me to writing.
People often ask what inspired my memoir. The short answer: it was time. I needed to heal. I kept hearing stories like mine ... miscarriages, fertility struggles, high-risk pregnancy, NICU journeys, and I knew I had to put my story and other brave women's stories on paper. My book became both my healing and a support system for others, a way to say: you are not alone.
Research was part of the process too. Though demanding, I embraced it as a challenge, weaving my findings with lived experience. My notes scatter across pages before they ever reach the computer. Writing, for me, is fire ... it fuels my soul.
