As we enter November, we honour the brave little souls born too soon … our premature babies.
I have the privilege of being a mother to one of these incredible miracles … my beautiful premature-born boy. These children are truly special. They’re filled with life, with wild and fearless spirits that shine through everything they do. Perhaps it’s because they had to fight for life from the very beginning, and that fight never leaves them. It becomes a part of who they are.
Whether born just a few days or several months early, each of these precious lives entered the world before their time. Whether they spent one day or many months within the intimidating walls of the NICU, they are all remarkable. There’s no competition in the NICU … no measure of who was born earliest or who stayed longest. Every story is unique, every journey is brave, and every parent’s heart carries its own scars and miracles.
The NICU is not a joke. It’s a place of tears, faith, miracles, fierce determination, and countless silent prayers. The sight of a premature baby fighting for life stays forever etched in a parent’s heart.
These tiny humans, so fragile you’re afraid to hold them, so small you fear your touch could break them … are some of the strongest souls on earth. Some may face health challenges as they grow, but those challenges are small compared to the gift of having them here, alive and fighting.
To every parent blessed with a premature baby … you are seen. You are strong. You are brave. Keep fighting for them, and they will keep fighting for life right alongside you.

Love them fiercely. Silence the noise of judgment. And never forget that your tiny fighter is a miracle.
